Game Modes & Objectives
Holdfast: Nations At War offers eleven distinct game modes, categorized by the theater of war and the tactical objectives required for victory. Each mode features specific mechanics and a curated selection of maps.
Primary Game Modes
| Mode | Category | Objective & Mechanics |
| Army Siege | Siege | Attackers must capture all points before time expires. Defenders win by holding at least one objective at the conclusion of the match. |
| Army Conquest | Point Capture | Multi-objective control. Capturing points generates score over time; the team with the highest score at the timer's end—or who reaches the score limit—wins. |
| Army Battlefield | Team Deathmatch | A battle of attrition focusing on "tickets" and respawns. Victory is achieved by depleting the enemy's reinforcement pool. |
| Army Assault | Linebattle | Characterized by high stakes and limited respawns (often one). This is the standard mode for organized community events. |
| Army Deathmatch | Skirmish | A pure combat-focused mode without capture objectives, prioritizing individual and unit kills. |
| Coastal Siege | Amphibious | Naval forces assault fortified land positions. This mode combines ship-to-shore bombardment with terrestrial siege mechanics. |
| Naval Assault | Fleet Action | High-stakes ship-to-ship combat, typically featuring a single life per vessel. |
| Naval Battlefield | Arcade Naval | Continuous naval engagement featuring respawning ships, allowing for sustained maritime combat. |
| Melee Arena | CQC | Specialized combat on compact maps restricted to melee weapons, often utilized for competitive practice. |
| Offensive | Linear Capture | A sequential objective mode where teams must capture points in a specific order to push the front line forward. |
| Invasion | Linear Siege | A structured assault where the attacking force must progress through a fixed chain of objectives while the defenders attempt to stall their momentum. |
