Organized Events: Community Engagements
Overview
Organized Events are the pinnacle of the Holdfast experience. These are large-scale, coordinated battles that bring together Regiments and public players across four global regions: North America (NA), Europe (EU), Australia (AU), and Asia (AS).
While public servers offer continuous action, organized events provide a structured, tactical environment where every volley and maneuver is governed by community-led administration and historical discipline.
Event Classifications
The Holdfast community hosts several specialized event types, each requiring different tactical approaches:
| Event Type | Focus & Mechanics |
|---|---|
| Line Battle | Massive combined-arms engagements (Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery) centered on formalized volleys and movement. |
| Naval Battle | Strategic ship-to-ship combat requiring high coordination to manage broadsides and sails. |
| Siege | Objective-based warfare where attackers storm a fortified position held by defenders. |
| Skirmisher Only | High-mobility engagements featuring Light Infantry with an emphasis on terrain and ranged precision. |
| Artillery Only | Specialized ordnance battles focused on long-range devastation with cannons, mortars, and rockets. |
| Cavalry Only | Fast-paced, horse-based combat with dragoons and hussars, emphasis on cavalry charges. |
| Naval Siege | A maritime-terrestrial hybrid where fleets assault coastal fortifications. |
| Frontlines | Industrial-era territory control focusing on sequential objectives and trench warfare. |
Participation Pathways
Participation depends on whether the event is classified as Public or Private.
- Public Events: Open to all players. Announcements are posted on the Event Noticeboard in the Official Holdfast Discord. While individual sign-ups aren't required, regiments are encouraged to register their attendance to assist admins with team balancing.
- Private Events: These are restricted to registered Regiments. Recruitment and slot allocation are managed internally by unit leaders. Solo players wishing to join these high-intensity battles are encouraged to Enlist in a Regiment.
- Leadership Tags: Regiment leaders should request the "Events Enjoyer – Regiment" role in the Official Discord to receive priority updates on server status and sign-up windows.
Public vs. Private Infrastructure
| Feature | Public Events | Private Events |
|---|---|---|
| Administration | Developer-approved admins. | Community/Regiment staff. |
| Ruleset | Standardized AGS developer rules. | Custom community rules (e.g., Hardcore). |
| Maps & Content | Official game maps only. | Optional use of Workshop Mods & Maps. |
| Platform | Full Cross-play supported. | Often PC-only if Mods are utilized. |
Hosting & Administrative Requirements
Communities wishing to host officially sanctioned events must ensure the following logistics are satisfied:
- Infrastructure: A dedicated, high-tick-rate server with stable configuration.
- Staffing: A minimum of two active admins with a clear escalation policy for rule breaches.
- Documentation: A concise, publicly accessible ruleset and sign-up sheet for headcounts.
- Logistics: Advanced notice of any Workshop IDs for required mods to prevent connection delays.
- Post-Event: Capturing results, screenshots, and gathering feedback for future balance adjustments.
Player Expectations
To ensure a high-quality experience for all participants, players are expected to adhere to the following standards:
- Tactical Discipline: Follow your Officer’s commands and the host’s specific rules without delay.
- Comms Etiquette: Maintain clear voice channels; excessive noise ("ear-spam") is grounds for removal.
- Professionalism: Griefing, teamkilling, or exploiting mechanics is strictly prohibited. Report administrative issues after the round concludes to avoid disrupting the flow of battle.
