Gameplay
Quick Start
- **Stick with Line Infantry first.** Follow your officer and stay in formation.
- **Reload behind cover.** Don’t reload in the open; move, then reload.
- **Aim lower than you think at close range.** See Aiming for holdover.
- **Don’t sprint everywhere.** Save stamina for melee and repositioning.
- **Volley discipline wins fights.** Fire together; lone shots waste tickets.
- **Know your toggles:** Press X to switch melee ↔ shooting; B for bayonet (when applicable).
- **Listen & comms:** Hold Y for voice. If needed, P mute menu, K mute all.
Class System
Each team fields combat and support roles. Combat classes bring firepower; support classes heal, boost morale, or deliver artillery.
Command
Army Infantry Officer
Directs lines, issues orders, and provides nearby buffs.
Naval Captain
Commands a ship and crew: helm, sail orders, and naval coordination.
Rank & File
Line Infantry
Core musket line with bayonets; excels under officer direction and volley fire.
Guards
Elite infantry with stronger melee presence and survivability.
Grenadiers
Heavy melee specialists; durable and dangerous up close.
Skirmisher
Light Infantry
Fast movers that take key ground and harass flanks.
Rifleman
Long-range accuracy specialists; fewer in number, deadly when positioned.
Customs
Naval light infantry; strong swimmers and mobile harassers.
Support
Artillery
Cannons, mortars, rockets. High impact but coordination-heavy.
Cavalry
Mounted shock troops with sabers/carbines; flanking and disruption.
Crewman
Experienced sailors; strong swimmers and solid in naval melee.
Aiming
Muskets have drop and spread. Use the **bottom of the reticle** to judge elevation.
- **0–40 m:** Aim **center-mass** with reticle bottom around **lower torso/knees**.
- **~60 m:** Hold the reticle bottom at **upper torso/neck**.
- **~100 m:** Reticle bottom at **head height**.
- **Spread is real.** Volley fire beats solo shots. Fire from a steady stance for best consistency.
Melee
Attacking
- Press X to switch to melee mode.
- Left-click to attack. Mouse direction sets strike (up = overhead, left/right = side).
- You can **attack-cancel** by starting a block mid-swing (after the “whoosh”) to chain faster.
Blocking
- Blocking only works in melee mode.
- Hold right mouse to block; move mouse to match incoming strike (up for overhead, etc.).
- Don’t spam. **Read and match** the angle; counter when they whiff.
Tips
- Hold Y for voice; P opens the voice mute menu; K mutes voice entirely.
- Press Tab in text chat to cycle channels (General, Recruitment, Team, etc.).
- **Stay with your unit.** Solo roaming feeds tickets.
- **Use terrain.** Small rises and fences break line of sight and reduce incoming hits.
- **Bayonet discipline.** Don’t lunge first; bait, block, counter.
